By Land & Sea
Most visitors arrive on Vancouver Island by ferry. From Vancouver, ferry trips run about an hour and a half, and YES you can make a reservation! Depart from either the Tsawwassen Terminal (Vancouver) to Duke Point (Nanaimo) or from Horseshoe Bay (Vancouver) to Departure Bay Nanaimo).
Once on the Island head north on Highway 19 which takes you directly to Campbell River. From there head west on Hwy 28, which meanders along lake and mountain sides, for about 91 kms (57 miles). This is considered one of the most spectacular drives on Vancouver Island.
Upon arrival in Gold River, turn left into town and continue on for 14 km to the Government Wharf where you can launch your boat (preferably at a rising tide). There is long-term parking for your vehicle and trailer available for a nominal daily fee collected by the wharf attendee. Once launched, head down Muchalat Inlet, staying on the right all the way, turn right into Tlupana Inlet, we are the second bay on the right (Galiano Bay), look for red roofed lodges.
